Works For Me Wednesdays - Hotel Curtains

It's been a while since I have participated in WFMW. Not for any particular reason. I just don't feel like I have any ground breaking - linky worthy knowledge to share.

However, I've got one now. And I feel like it would be a travesty to keep this little piece-o-knowledge to myself. And since I'm all about the sharing, and since my dad thinks I'm a genius, pure genius, for figuring this out, I'm going to share my knowledge with you.

Ready?

Have you ever been in a hotel when the curtains don't close all the way? You can pull and tug and beg and plead with the curtains to close. But they will always have a gap. And you don't realize how annoying the gap is until about 5:30 in the morning when the blinding sun comes through the tiny gap like a drill sergeant holding a flashlight in your face and you can't sleep in on your vacation because of all the sun. And then you wake up cranky and the whole day is ruined.

So, I have the solution for you.

Use this.

They're in your closet in your hotel room. Just grab em and clip those curtains together.

See?

However, by using this idea, I no longer get to see my dad build a tower of suitcases, chairs, and luggage valets to keep the curtains closed.

I guess I'll have to sacrifice that bit o' joy for my dad's sleep sanity.

You're welcome.

WFMW - Glass shower door cleaner

I have a big shower in my Master Bathroom. I love it. But with big showers comes big glass shower doors. And if you are like me, you have a hard time keeping those silly things clear.

Here's a secret. Spray-n-Wash.

Yep, the laundry pre-treater.

Clean your shower like you normally do. Then spray the glass doors with Spray-n-Wash (the generic kind works, too) and rinse with water. Don't scrub, just rinse. That's all. Your glass will be clear and will stay that way for a long time. Plus, they don't fog up as easily.

It's that easy.

WFMW - The BEST Bubbles Ever

WFMW -

Here is my discovery for the week. I signed my children up for a gym class at Gymboree a couple of weeks ago. During our 1st session, I noticed that the bubbles they used were amazingly long lasting. So, I decided to buy some before we left. The silly things cost $6 a bottle (which included the really cool bubble blowing thingy). I thought that was insanely outrageous, but decided to buy them anyway. Girls, lemme tell you what. Those are the BEST bubbles ever. They last a lot longer than most bubbles do (I even had some that sat on my concrete driveway for a while, which made for a whole new "stomp the bubble" game). You can even catch them with your hands. The bubble blowing wand thingy is pretty cool, too. Makes about 1000 bubbles at a time. The kids loved them and it was well worth the 6 bucks I spent on them. Bonus - the bubbles are sugary, so if one happens to get eaten, it won't taste like gross soap.

It's finally spring. Get out and blow some bubbles. :)

Works for me Wednesdays

Ok, I'm a first timer here on this amazing world of WFMW, so please be patient if it's a little disorganized.  Blogging in general is a new thing for me.  However, I have the most FAB talapia recipe that I think it's worth venturing into the unknown in order to share it.

PS - I learned this recipe from the great Rachael Ray.

Ingredients:
flour, 1 sleeve saltine crackers, 1 T Old Bay seasoning, 1 t smoked paprika, 2 slightly beaten eggs, talapia fillets, Extra Virgin Olive Oil

You will need 3 "stations" for this recipe. I used sandwich sized GladWare containers.  In one container, put the flour.  About a cup will do.  In another container, put the slightly beaten eggs.  In the last container, mix the saltines (crushed), paprika, and Old Bay.  Dredge the talapia in the flour (both sides), then dip in eggs (again, both sides), then dredge in cracker mixture (both sides again).  Put about 2 T Oil in skillet on high heat.  Allow oil to get hot (you will know it's hot enough by sprinkling a little flour in oil.  If it's hot enough, the flour will sizzle.  If it's not, the flour will float and do nothing).  Place fish fillets in skillet and cook until golden brown.  Flip and do the same on the other side.

We made sandwiches out of this.  We used Hoagie Rolls, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, avocado, and a little Vidalia Onion Salad Dressing.  We toasted the bread and served them open faced.

Holy Moley.  I don't like fried fish, avocado, or lots of stuff on my sandwiches, but I was a Big Girl and tried this.  I could eat it every day.  Totally delish.  And it gets bonus points because my 3 kids ate the fish like it was their job.  This also works on chicken (pound it pretty thin) or other types of fish like Grouper....yum.

Enjoy and have a wonderful day.
