You Know How You Make That Little Quotation Mark Sign With Your Fingers?

My 7 year old never ceases to make me laugh. She is seriously one hysterical kid. Her new one for the week is making the quotation mark sign with her fingers.

However, she has no idea why she should make the sign. She just randomly does it.

Like last night. She was going to "get" in the bathtub. Then "she" washed her hair. Then she requested "pancakes" for breakfast. And she was excited about wearing her new softball "uniform" to her game tonight.

I was cracking up. It sooo reminded me of that Friends episode where Joey didn't understand the finger quote thing, either.

Ahh, funny TV show. Funnier daughter.

Foot in Mouth

I was reading Queen B's post last week about putting your foot in your mouth and it made me chuckle at the numerous times I've done the same thing. I am generally a "think before you speak" kinda gal, but occasionally my mouth works faster than my brain.

And let me tell you what.

When my mouth gets going, it's hard to stop it.

Like the time I was a freshman at Auburn University. I was a member of the Auburn University Concert Choir which had roughly 200 members in it. I was eating lunch one day in the Quad (we had a dorm named Dowdell that had a deli in it called DowDeli. I always thought that was so clever. I'm easily amused...)

Anyway, I was eating lunch on Dowdell's steps when a sorority sister walked up with a friend of hers. This friend's name was Jake and he was a greek god. I drooled. Ok, not really, but you get the picture. Lisa (sorority sister) and Jake (hunky greek god) sat down and ate lunch with me. Lisa had a class so she soon left, leaving Jake and me alone. I have no idea what we talked about, but we sat and talked about 30 minutes. Then I had class (concert choir, remember?) and we parted ways. I swooned, skipped, glided, breezed across campus to the music building with stars in my eyes and a grin on my face that couldn't be erased. I sat down in my assigned seat next to a girl named Jennifer, who I barely knew. I started talking about this guy named Jake and how cute he was and how I was going to marry him and live on a ranch in Texas...blah blah blah. Jennifer sat and smiled and listened. Class was soon over and guess who was at the door waiting? JAKE! Guess who he was waiting for? JENNIFER!

I am not making this up. They had been dating for a little over 6 months. Shoot me now.

So, on a campus of 30,000 students, in a class of 200, I happened to be sitting beside the girlfriend of the man of my dreams. And I told her all about it.

Yes, I was beyond humiliated. It was awful.

Please tell me about a time when you put your foot in your mouth. I need to know I'm not alone.

Fast forward 2 years...
Jennifer and Jake broke up.
Jennifer and I became really good friends and roommates.
I met the man of my dreams, married him, and have been married for almost 11 years.
His name's Spencer, not Jake.

Crazy, huh?

Made Me Chuckle, Had to Share

Funny stuff, I tell ya.

1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America.....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Katherine's Mom's Blog Katherine is a friend of mine who suffered a brain stem hemorrhage and stroke about a month ago. She is a 26 year old 1st time mom and this has devastated her family and friends. Her mom has started a blog and it is a blessing to read. I posted about Katherine's injury here. Since these initial scary days, Katherine has made miraculous steps toward healing. She still has a long road ahead of her. Her father-in-law frequently says that God will be glorified through this and that we are sitting on the front row of a miracle. I believe that with all my heart and know that not only will Katherine get better, but all honor and glory will belong to Him. Read this blog and grab your seat on that front row! You can also read about Katherine's progress here.

Enjoy!

Me

I live in Birmingham. Apparently there are a bunch of bloggy people in Birmingham, because we are having a Bham Blogger broo-ha-ha/get-together/par-tay/fun time to introduce our internet selves to our real selves. We are calling it BLAWGer because, hello, we are from Alabama, and phonetically that is exactly how we say it. One of the things we are doing is introducing ourselves to each other on our blogs so we are more familiar with each other when we really get together.

So here goes...

My name is Robyn.

I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 girls ages 7, almost 3, and 19 months.

These kids totally rock my world.

I am married to the awesomest daddy, husband, 7 year old softball coach in the world. We have been married for almost 11 years.

I love reading, singing, playing guitar, watching TV, swimming, and watching my daughter play softball. I am a HUGE Auburn fan and am raising my daughters to love Auburn even though Daddy is a HUGE Alabama fan. He tries to convert them every fall, but fails every time.

I have lived in Birmingham for 2 years. Before that, we lived in Tallahassee, FL. Before that, we lived in Montgomery, AL. That's where I grew up.

I am so grateful for the area of Bham in which we live because the school system has private school caliber schools but they are public. And the elementary school and the middle school are 8/10 of a mile from my house. Which means the kids will be really close by through the 8th grade. Gotta love that.

I love meeting celebrities. So far in the past 3 months, I've met Kelly Clarkson, Jennie Finch, and Taylor Swift. They were all nice beyond comprehension.

I am a huge Reba fan. Have been all my life.

I paint artwork for children's rooms. I get all my artistic ability from my dad. He's really talented but would never let you know that.

Speaking of my dad, he's a pastor. That's right, I'm a PK. I was never a wild one, though. I was (and still am) a rule follower. Well, sorta.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my voyage into Bloggyville. It's been fun to meet people who otherwise I would've never met. I'm also amazed at how many of us are in Birmingham!

I can't wait to meet you all. I have a feeling that some of us have met, but don't know it yet.

See y'all soon!!!

Happy Dances

Oh, glorious people of Bloggyville.

Welcome to my Happy Dance.

Why am I doing a happy dance? Good question, fellow Bloggy people.

It's because I have a FABULOUSLY AWESOME new blog design! All colorful and magical and glittery and shiny and happy and makes me jump up and down and clap my hands.

Spencer even said "Aw, that looks really good." Which in his language means "Wow! What an amazingly beautiful blog that will make you happy and smiley thus making the kids and myself happy and smiley."

I know that because I can totally read his mind even though he doesn't think I can.

But that's a whole nother topic for a whole nother post.

And now I'm gonna give all the Blog Design props to Trista at Pumpkin Patch Creations for creating this masterpiece. Hats off to you, my friend. If you want your blog to look as fab as mine does, then head over there right this instant and take full and complete advantage of her talent. Then you can have a happy dance of your own!

Oh, and guess what else I love about my new blog....I have a SIGNATURE! See? Look down.

Awesome.

And now, the happy dance resumes.
