It Was On The News Tonight, People.

I was watching our local news tonight. I watched a story about a murder at a local night club this past weekend. I'm sure there are murders at night clubs all over the country every day. But this story really shocked me. And the more I watched, the more I was shocked.

The murder happened in an area of town called "Five Points". Five Points is covered up in night clubs. There are dozens.

The murder happened at 3AM. Not surprising. Night clubs are open and kicking at that time of night.

Here's the shocking stuff. The murder was committed by a 16 year old carrying a semi-automatic weapon.

WHAT?!?

There are so many things wrong with that statement. First, this person is 16. The minimum age requirement is 21. Where are this kid's parents? Obviously oblivious to the fact that their 16 year old is at a night club at 3 am. And where on earth did this kid get a semi-automatic weapon?

And it only gets worse.

The TV station was interviewing 2 girls about the escalating crime in Five Points. They were sitting on a bench in the middle of Five Points in the middle of the day. These girls were pierced, tattoed, smoking, cussing, holding hands and VERY affectionate with each other, and 17 years old. Seventeen years old, people. One of the girls was pointing out the places to buy drugs and what kind you could buy where. On TV.

WHAT?!?

Again, hello? Parents?

Ok, I'll admit that I grew up very sheltered. The stuff that these kids have seen, heard, experienced is probably something I'll never even comprehend. But come on. The mayor was interviewed and was totally exasperated. He doesn't know what to do to clean up the crime in that area. He's at a total loss. I don't blame him. Not only is the crime out of control down there, it's being committed by kids. In a place where kids aren't even supposed to be.

What do you think God thinks about this? I know His heart is breaking. As a society, we have totally excluded Him. And look what's happening!

My brain is having such a hard time grasping the enormity of the sins of our society. I am so frustrated that so many people would rather have a society full of crime, entitlement, chaos, and destruction than bring God back in the mix. The separation of church and state as we know it was NOT what our forefathers envisioned. We have taken personal "rights" to a crazy extreme and excluded God in the process. This is not what our forefathers wanted. This is NOT what our God wants. This is not what I want.

Please pray for our society. It scares me to death to raise 3 children in it. If there's ever been a reason to pray, this is one. As the Body of Christ, it is our responsibility to take this back over. Our prayers will be heard. Our prayers are more powerful than any politician's agenda. Our God can totally fix this. I have faith that He will. Take the scriptures and speak them out loud. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Matthew 7:7. Then watch God show up and show off.

That is crazy. What do folks do without the Lord in this world. God Bless!

Sad times. And the thing is those kids have no idea about how much God loves them. How much he WANTS them and. I wonder if they have ever felt wanted, and safe and loved. Or felt free

You are exactly right. We need to be in desperate prayer for all of these kids.

Hi Robyn...
I did see the thing about the 16 year old shooting someone, but I didn't see anything more. Terrible indeed.
I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I had a great time last night and it was really nice to meet you!

I, too, saw the video of the two girls. I was absolutely shocked.
I grew up under a rock and these things just did not go on when I was that age.

I mean, there were the "bad" kids, but they weren't downtown selling drugs and busting a cap in someone.

We need God in this country in a bad way. I shutter to think of the world my kids are living in.

Just under a month ago in my small community a murder took place at the hands of a 16 year old. He drove by in a car, along with his older cousin and another friend, and shot and killed a 17 year old boy and severally injured another 16 year old. I knew all of them, included the shooter, whom I had talked to when we were in the same classes a couple of years ago. Things like this don't happen in my small community, and I regret that I wasn't there at the time to help my community get through this difficult time. Reading your post made me realize that things like this happen everywhere, even in places you would never expect it, like my town. All we can do is pray. things are in God's hands.
